I found an excuse to dust off my old Canon 40D. With a bit of rain in the forecast I didn’t want to take out my good camera but I wanted an excuse to spend some time outside shooting. It seemed like a good day for the old 40D and a Lensbaby Spark. So why not head out in the rain.
My daughter played along as well and was patient enough to quietly wait in the stroller while Daddy fired off a few frames.
I need to to find a way to incorporate more of these impromptu weekend photo projects into my free time. Being stuck with only one fixed length lens I was really forcing myself to see the world a slightly different way. While I sometimes feel like I have a 16mm eye, I found myself getting in a bit too close with the Spark and then I’d have to back track 10 meters or so to frame up what I was seeing in my head. Great experience for a landscape photographer always looking through the same lens.
I was also experimenting a bit with capturing some real live people in some of my images. A bit more a street style then I would usually go for. I really got mixed results. You’ll see I didn’t post many shoots with people in them because I just wasn’t to thrilled with my framing. That is something I need to work on for the future.
