Lightroom to Instagram

Export presets are a great way to speed your workflow.  I find them especially useful for quickly export images to suitable sizes for social media.  To save you some effort I have just posted  a package of Adobe Lightroom 5 export presets to prepare your images quickly for posting on Instagram.

Both presets are configured to constrain the long edge of your image to the currently recommended sizes for Instagram.  The current prefered sizes are a 612 pixels for a desktop in lightbox mode, and 510 pixels for the Instagram Mobile App.  Don’t forget to use a 1×1 crop ratio on your images before running the export to get the most of my Instagram export presets.

Download Instagram Lightroom 5 Export Presets

Once you have downloaded the presets, extract the files from the zip file and import the presets from your export dialog box.  Use the following steps to help you import the presets

  1. Extract the Lightroom export preset templates from the zip file
  2. Open Adobe Lightroom 5
  3. Select Export from the File menu to open the export dialog bog
  4. In the preset window, right click on the User Presets header and selct Import (see the screen shot below)
  5. From the open file dialog box navigate to one of the preset files you extracted in step 1, select the file and click the open button
  6. You’re ready to use your new export preset

Although I am not asking for any compensation for these presets I would ask for one  favor from one photographer to another.  If you do find the presets useful please follow me on instagram @usalpblaser.  Feel freel leave a comment on one of my photos as well.  I would love to hear from you.

Hi Brian, I’m trying to follow your steps to download a preset which will allow me to export from Lightroom to Instagram but when I click on the download I get the 510 and 612 files but they seem to be empty – they dont seem to be Zip files, any advice on where I am going wrong would be appreciated.

You increase many queries in my thoughts; you wrote an excellent post, but this articlee is also thought provoking, and I will need to ponder it a bit more; I will be back again soon.

burning it is the intellectual equivalent of the ‘land for peace false bargain’ that we have been pressuring Israel over. Each and every time Israel gives up something the violence gets worse. Each time you make excuses for cold blooded murder, you invite more of it. What should happen is to take out a few of their big mukety mucks proven terrorists and when they have the big screaming funeral then carpet bomb them while they are all gathered into one place. To treat them as you expect to be treated is suicidal.

Hi Sarah — Thanks so much for being here! You’re definitely NOT on an island when it comes to worrying about everything and anything. My son actually knows that my e-reader is a book. Whenever I pull it out (and like you, I read on the e-reader most of the time now) , he’ll sit next to me (he’s 3) and hold his finger to the Next Page button…then he waits for me to say Okay and he turns the page for me. He seems to think it’s great fun. LOL

Benny, from one app developer (who has been burned big time) to another (who has made it big), I can only say, Kudos and well done! The competition is cut-throat out there. But now Apple knows you, I would milk them like the cow they are. Develop similar quality apps, maybe even games and you could ride this wave of getting featured for more projects!Awesome job, i hope 2012 is even better than 2011 for you!-ye old loser developer
